OUR HISTORY

I Don’t Give a Fork began in theory as a school project in 2011 at the University of Delaware. Leigh Ann Tona, founder and owner, took this idea a step further by entering a school sponsored idea pitch competition where she took first place. Winning the competition validated her food truck idea and while still attending school full time, she managed to not get murdered when she purchased a food cart off of Craigslist that she lovingly refers to as “a shed on wheels.” After only a year and a half, she was able to retire the food cart and purchase a full size food truck in March 2014.

She has participated in hundreds of events over the course of her career, with the biggest by far being Firefly Music Festival. It was there where she served thousands of hungry concertgoers and facilitated a rave fueled by Mac & Cheesesteaks and by blasting music out of her truck speakers.  She has pivoted her business model slightly with the purchase of the new truck and has branched out to serve large corporate offices on weekdays while she still attends events and festivals on the weekends.

Owning the truck has been a crazy adventure and because of Leigh Ann’s success, many people would say that her middle name is "Passion", but to that, she just politely corrects them and says that it’s “Ann.”

In 2021, Leigh Ann closed I Don't Give a Fork in order to start a new business. Sleeping Bird Coffee is opeing May 2021 and is located at 3111 Miller Rd Wilmington, DE. We hope to see you there!
